Timo Glock in recovery from appendix removal surgery

Timo Glock recovers at home after successful appendix removal.

Episode Information

Hello and welcome to F1 Minute for the 3rd March 2011.

Timo Glock has become the latest casualty in Formula One, having been to hospital to have his appendix removed. The Virgin Racing driver was taken ill in Switzerland a few days ago and rushed to hospital, where he was diagnosed with appendicitis. Some keyhole surgery to remove the offending appendix took place, and Glock was allowed back home yesterday. Despite the quick recovery, it is clearly not fast enough for Timo who is already tweeting his frustration: “Mega weather and I am just able to do a little walk how boring is this!!! My bike puts on rust already !!!!”

Meanwhile, team principal at Virgin John Booth has confirmed that Timo may miss the upcoming test, he said: “To ensure a swift recovery, it is unlikely that he will take part in next week’s test at Barcelona and that Jerome will run on all four days instead. We will make a final decision early next week. We look forward to having Timo back with us very soon.”
